In the midst of working on John and Yoko, I was contacted by Varese Sarabande who was looking for a clean copy of the American LP sleeve to use on their forthcoming CD of the soundtrack to The Family Way. Well, one thing led to another, and I became more and more involved in the project, which finally saw release on July 26th. The original intent was to issue the mono LP, but when the tapes arrived, it turned out to be the stereo master - and does it sound great! Unfortunately, all things legal prevented the inclusion of both versions on the CD. It's a nice addition to the current McCartney Archive Collection, and considerably more affordable (copies may be purchased at www.varesesarabande.com).
When preparing the sleeve notes, I ended up disassembling the album and the film's soundtrack a second time (the VHS dub I used when researching Eight Arms to Hold You was missing a chunk of the film!). While it provided some interesting insights into production of the album, it was a little too detailed to be included in the CD notes.
Likewise, I prepared a set of UK and US labels which ended up getting cut from the booklet, so rather than see them go to waste, I figured I'd put them up here for everyone to enjoy.
